LeRoy Willemsen

Chief Engineer

Mr. Willemsen began his career by enlisting in the Air Force as an Aircraft Armament Systems Specialist in 1985. He earned his commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in 2001, his final assignment for the Air Force was as the ICBM Reentry System IPT Lead responsible for a $300M ACAT III ICBM Reentry System test set replacement. Mr. Willemsen retired from the Air Force after 26 years of active-duty service in 2011, converted to Civilian Service in 2011 and joined Matrix Research in 2024. Before joining Matrix Research LeRoy served as the AFRL/RYM Division Chief leading a team of 240 personnel, overseeing a $350M+ portfolio at Wright-Patterson AFB, and advancing next-generation RF and electro-optic sensing systems. His career also includes prior roles such as Chief of the RF Systems Branch, where he supervised a team working on cutting-edge technology for warfighters and led strategic planning and execution of over $100M in programs.

LeRoy received a BSEE from the University of Florida in 2000 and an MSEE from the Air Force Institute of Technology in 2006.
