Alex Burwell
RF Algorithms Team Lead
Dr. Alex Burwell joined Matrix in 2022 and has nearly fifteen years of experience in the RF domain, focusing on Radar and Electronic Warfare (EW) applications. Before joining Matrix Research, Alex served as Principal Engineer, developing EW payloads for attritable and expendable solutions. Alex has also served as a civilian at the National Air and Space Intelligence Center (NASIC) and the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), where he was responsible for numerous activities relating to system design, signals processing, Modeling and Simulation (M&S), and Test and Evaluation (T&E) for radar, Electronic Intelligence (ELINT), and EW systems.
Dr. Burwell holds a bachelor’s in physics from Wittenberg University and a master's and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Dayton. Alex’s graduate research focused on distributed radar waveform design and Space-Time Adaptive Processing (STAP).
